Funding programme for international youth projects.

In its EUROPEANS FOR PEACE programme, the Foundation EVZ promotes international school and youth projects between Germany, the countries of Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe as well as Israel. School and extracurricular educational institutions are invited to form an international partnership and apply for funding for a joint project. EUROPEANS FOR PEACE strengthens historical awareness and bolsters the active commitment of young people for human rights and understanding between peoples.

Theme 2017/2018: DISCRIMINATION. WATCH OUT!

Young people examine discrimination and persecution under National Socialism or current issues of discrimination against the background of Article 2 of the Universal Declaration of
Human Rights (UDHR) of 1948.

Article 2: Ban on Discrimination

“Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion,
national or social origin, property, birth or other status.”

The projects, which should be implemented between July 2017 and August 2018, can select a historical or contemporary approach to the theme.

Historical reference points are the history of National Socialism and of World War II in Europe. The young people can explore the causes, mechanisms and consequences of systematic exclusion, deprivation of rights, persecution, and annihilation. In the process, they can make connections to local stories and biographical testimonies, and to ask where racist thinking leads to exclusion today.

In contemporary approaches, projects examine current forms of discrimination and current patterns of thought shaped by prejudice, such as racism, anti-Semitism, antiziganism, or homophobia. The young people explore how every individual can work actively to combat exclusion and to foster equal participation of all.
