Belarus-Ukraine: Pinsk district to host cross-border Small Rivers Festival this month

On 22 August, the Pinsk district of Belarus will host the first Small Rivers Festival, a cross-border festival between Belarus and Ukraine. The event aims to draw attention to the issue of saving the small rivers of the Prypiać river basin, which passes through the districts of Pinsk, in Belarus, and Lubeshiv, in Ukraine.

Together with street artist Bazinato, festival guests will have the opportunity to create eco-installations. A separate workshop will be dedicated to creating ‘eco-jewellery’ from grass and hay, sending postcards by ‘green post’ and making unique eco-bags.

The festival will also host a concert featuring Belarusian and Ukranian music groups, in parallel with competitions and workshops.

The event is being organised in the framework of the EU-funded “Cross-border Water Inspectors” project. It will officially close the cross-border summer camp that will take place on 16-21 August in Kalavuravičy village, welcoming 200 children from both countries.

The project is part of the EU-funded Eastern Partnership Territorial Cooperation Programme Belarus-Ukraine. It is being implemented by Pinsk District Executive Committee and Interakcia Foundation on the Belarusian side and on the Ukrainian side by the organisation “World Around Us”, together with the Department of Education, Youth and Sport of Lubeshiv District State Administration.
