Projects in the sphere of legal clinic education will be supported

New Eurasia Establishment congratulates the winners of the Call “Capacity Building of Legal Clinic Education in Belarus”.
The following winners were selected for granting:
  1. Belarussian State University “Summer School for Clinicians”;
  2. Grodno State University named after Yanka Kupala “Introduction of Legal Clinic Education into the Educational process”;
  3. Brest State University named after A. Pushkin “School of Legal Education”;
  4. Academy of Public Administration under the Aegis of the President “Study Guide “Practical Competencies of a Lawyer”
  5. Vitebsk State University named after P. Masherov “Preparation of Curators of Regional legal Clinics”
The first in Belarus Summer School for Clinicians would form a community of students-clinicians, contribute to the experience exchange and enrich the work of clinics. In the result, the level of education in clinics will be increased,” said Yulia Savkina, the head of the BSU legal clinic. “We can see from our experience that if you participate in similar events abroad you will be more inspired and motivated, and this is a “powerful impetus” for the development of a legal clinic.
The project on Summer School for Clinicians will include the course on mediation as well.
It is planned to restore a legal clinic in Grodno State University named after Yanka Kupala. The Project will contribute to the formation of organizational, material and technical basis of the clinic.
The study guide for curators and lecturers of the course “School of Legal Education” will be published at Brest State University named after A. Pushkin. The issue will be disseminated among the libraries and during the round tables and other events at the university.
Another study guide will be issued at the Academy of Public Administration under the Aegis of the President. The publication “Practical Competencies of a Lawyer” will include theoretical material on work in the clinic as well as practical exercises to self-guided work on professional competencies.
Legal clinics curators from regional clinics in Mogilev and Polotsk will upgrade their skills in the framework of the project, implemented by Vitebsk State University named after P. Masherov.
The Call is organized within the Capacity Building for Civil Society Organizations Project. The Project is supported by the Eurasia Foundation with funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)
